Did you watch the advertisement of an oil company that Jang Mi-ran (gold medalist in lifting weight) comes out? Or did you watch the advertisement of few banks that Park Tae-Hwan(gold medalist in swimming) comes out? In the two advertisements that are being broadcasted these days, gold medalists from Beijing Olympics comes out. There are few advertisements that have gold medalists, but I’ve never seen one with a silver medalist nor bronze.
At the Beijing Olympic games, we won the 7th place by earning 13 gold medals 10 silver, and 8 bronze. It was a very good score and every athletes worked hard. Especially, the athletes who won the gold medal decorated the first page of newspapers, or the whole part of sports part. Also people became their fans. However, there are also many athletes who worked hard, but wasn’t lucky enough to earn medals, or athletes who won silver and bronze medals. Some became famous because of their outlooks, but not many people are familiar with their names.
I think this is completely unfair, especially people who won silver or bronze medals. The color of the medal doesn’t match with the person’s efforts. However, most of the people have an attitude of thinking gold medals as the only medals. It is true that our scores depend on the number of gold medals, but we should cheer up the silver medalists, bronze medalists and athletes who weren’t able to earn any medals, because they might have a good score on the London Olympics…

I agree. Most or the people only remember the people who got gold medal. However, the silver and bronze medals are also worthful. I think that we need to rank it like three silver medal equals one gold medal. In this way the silver and bronze medalist will fairly be eaqualed with the gold medalist.

I definitely agree with you! I think that the silver and bronze medalists are being treated unfairly. They should be respected too!

I definitely agree with you, too. The bronze and silver medalists had worked hard like the gold medalists. They just didn’t have any luck or met a stronger rival. Also, it is too, very hard to take second and third places in the world. The bronze and silver medalists should be treated equally.

I agree with your opinion. 1st place is not the only medal and I think even earning silver or bronze medal is hard. I think we should respect all medalists. I hope there is a change in Korean’s thinking.

This is true!!!
All comercials on TV only show the people that won gold medals in the Beijing Olympic, and this is really unfair for the people that won the silver medal or the bronze medal very unluckily. Although this is true, I think I once saw a commercial with Nam Yun-Hee coming out.(silver medalist in fencing) So, I don’t think that all the people were left out.
